Kindergarten prototype
Hrvatska/2009 education Fundamental idea in creating kindergarten prototype is to create flexible system that comprises several elemental and identical space modules that derive from functional kindergarten groups (kindergarten units, multipurpose area, area for kindergarten teachers and administration, supply area) Two basic spans, that define two space characters (primary and secondary areas), form a matrix that is a foundation for the whole system. Kindergarten primary areas, within a width of 8,10m, are comprised of empty modules, while secondary areas, within a width of 2,70m, are comprised of corridors, all services and sanitary areas.Different organisations of these elements result in different relations and dynamics of indoor areas and different relations towards outdoor areas. System is flexible and can be adapted to suit specific location, size of site, etc. There are three basic types of kindergarten organisations, suitable for different climate zones in Republic of Croatia: continental zone, upland zone, coastal zone Continental prototype is organised with modules that are dispersed within a matrix and harmoniously coincide with outdoor areas that are intertwined with indoor modules, allowing extension of indoor areas. Upland prototype, because of severe weather that is characteristic for the upland climate zone and because of assumption that children most of the year play indoor, is enclosed and comprises atrium gardens that are protected from adverse wind gusts, and can function as indoor winter gardens during winter. Coastal prototype, because of mild climate that offers outdoor areas as playground and because of necessity for protection from sun rays, has compacted indoor areas, while enlarges outdoor landscape areas that protect building from sun rays and offer diversified activities in outdoor areas.
